Welcome to Springdale Resort
For more than 50 years, Springdale Resort, located in Cruso, North Carolina, has been known for its deep roots in the community, rolling hills, mountain creeks, and the dramatic scenery of Cold Mountain. In 2018, the vision for the resort changed under the new West family ownership and has undergone some key and well-planned changes in an effort to create a true “Secluded and Peaceful Mountain Golf Resort” experience for its guests. Changes include a new welcome center and clubhouse, a 7000 sq ft Rocky Face Tavern with an outdoor fireplace, a new heated pool and hot tub, a teen center, a new fitness center, a new golf course with upgraded bunkers, an irrigation system, and cart path improvements were all among the recent changes.
Springdale’s story is all about connections. Friend to friend. Parent to child, human to nature. It’s a story of a return to simple pleasures we have missed. A celebration of breathless views by day and campfires under a blanket of stars by night. This is a place where family memories are made and friendships are bonded. There is a deep sense of camaraderie among those who spend time here, not only within their own group or family but also with other guests/members and the staff who serve them with an attitude of “friends serving friends.” A visit to this family-owned resort feels very much like a return to a personal family retreat — one handed down for generations. It’s comfortable, unpretentious, quiet, and relaxing. Those who return week after week for golf, or year after year for a week-long family vacation, feel the warm welcome and sense of calm the moment they enter the property. They know exactly what to expect — a quality experience that soothes and enchants.
For local golfers, this is the course they call home. Well maintained, challenging, and a pleasure from first tee to 18th green, the course at Springdale offers views and settings that bring a sense of peace to even the most frustrating shot. It is a course where anyone can hone their game, but also a place to have fun and hone true friendships. Springdale Resort members feel a sense of satisfaction knowing they have found a club that offers the unusual benefit of quality with true value. They don’t want to pay for pompous country club frills and dress codes. They want a course and club they can rely upon and feel a sense of pride in knowing they share the area’s best-kept secret in golf.
Golf retreaters look forward to returning to Springdale Resort year after year. Almost like a kid looking forward to returning to summer camp, they know they’ll be welcomed back to the setting, accommodations, camaraderie, and relaxed spirit they know and appreciate. They can count on a staff that will take care of every detail in a way that is unobtrusive, sincere, and responsive to the personal needs of the group.
For couples or family vacationers, a stay at Springdale offers simple, wholesome pleasures — a welcome escape from technology to nature. It’s a place where family memories are made and friendships are strengthened. It’s a time to celebrate new family adventures together from scenic hiking trails, river fishing, golf lessons on the greens, or a dip in the pool. Springdale will be recognized as a unique opportunity to enjoy a new mountain resort and golf experience that offers a genuine and timeless appeal — a thoughtfully planned breath of fresh air that renews the spirit!

WHAT THE JUDGES SAID: “The goal of creating a resort-style destination is definitely achieved. The exterior and interior materials work well with the surrounding hill country. The ability to open the dining and bar area to the outdoor patio is an attractive feature.”
